Near the Roden farmhouse, Isham reports that “Mr. Ruppel
moved the stone to that spot for safe keeping, thus making the mileage .1 off.”
Sage describes it as “one of the best specimens of this series. The inscription
is deeply cut and easily readable.” Although the bubbles in the plastic overlay of the 1976 photography distort the image, the entire inscription and basic shape of the milestone can be seen. As found in 2013, the stone is now akilter.
The metal stake and backing for the Bicentennial plaque remains, although the
plaque is missing. Despite a fracture of the upper right-hand corner of the stone, all text preserved as of 2013.
